Conversation class - questions and answers

1- What is your name?

* My name's Mike Steward

2- What are you?

* I'm a student.

3- Actually what is your first name?

*It's Michael

4- Why everybody calls you "Mike"?

* because it's short for Michael

5- Where were you born?

* In a little country town not so distant.

6- How many brothers and sisters do you have ?

* I have two sisters and two brothers.

7- What's your mother's name?

*Her name is Marilyn.

8- What's your father's name?

* My father calls George

9- Do you have any friends in this city?

* yes. I do. I have many friends here.

1o- What did happen to you last year?

* In July I was in the hospital.

11- How many days did you stay there?

* Twenty- four days...almost the whole month

12- What about your friend Peter?

* Peter spent three weeks there.

13- In what month was he there?

*He was there in May.

14- What time do you usually get up?

*Before seven o'clock during the week.

15- Why do you get up so early?

* Because I have to go to school.

16- How many buses do you take to school?

*I don't take any buses to go to school..I prefer to go on foot.

17- Why do you prefer to go on foot?

* Because I like to walk and talk with my schoolmates on the way.

Conversation Class - More handsome

My name is Eduardo but my friends call me Edu or "Dudu". I'm from Brazil and I'm the oldest of three brothers. My younger brothers are Victor, Valmir and Valdo. I'm more handsome than all of them. I'm 17 years old , Victor is 12, Valmir is 14 and Valdo is almost 16. Valmir is as smart as Valdo and all of us like to be together. Victor is the youngest and the ugliest too, but the girls( I don't know why) are crazy for him.

Conversation class- Mr. W.R.Jackson

My name is W.R.Jackson. My first name is Willard and my middle name is Ross. I was born in November, 1937, in a small town near here. My native language is English. I speak a little Japanese. I don't speak these languages very well. I often make mistakes when I speak these languages. My wife's name is Jane Jackson. Her family name was Smith. My wife's native language is English, but she speaks several languages. She speaks French exceptionally well. She speaks Spanish and Portuguese too. She speaks a little Arabic.Her father's native language is English, but her mother's native language is French. My wife's father is an engineer and so am I.


My wife's father was in the hospital last year and so was I. He was in the hospital for two weeks during the month of February...and I was in the hospital for three weeks during the month of September.

I was in the hospital for twenty- four days. My friend Peter was in the hospital for three weeks last year. He was in the hospital during the month of May.


My friend Peter has a good radio and a D.V.D. player. He has many d.v.d.s. He doesn't have a computer, but I have one one. My computer is a small one, but it's a very good one.During the week I usually get up before seven o'clock, because I have to go to school. I almost never take a bus to school. I like to go on foot talking with my classmates. On saturdays and sundays I don't get up early.

Vocabulary about " the american legal system"

Verbs:

1_ to snore = roncar

2_ to be illegal = ser, estar ilegal

3_ to be closed = estar fechado

4_ to be locked = estar trancado(a)

5_ to go to bed = ir dormir

6_must = dever, ter, precisar( no sentido de ser obrigado a fazer)

7_to have a bath/ to take a shower = tomar banho

8_ to put = colocar, pôr

9_can = poder , conseguir

10_ to cross = atravessar

11_ to walk on somebody's hands = plantar bananeira

12_to carry = levar, conduzir, carregar

13_to be fined = ser multado

14_ to be imprisoned = ser preso

15_ to make ugly faces at = fazer careta para

The american legal system

In Massachusetts snoring is illegal unless all bedroom windows are closed and locked. Crazy? Before you go to bed you must also have a bath. That is the law!

Well, in Michigan it is illegal to put a skunk in the desk of your boss.

And in Hartford , Connecticut , you cannot cross the street walking on your hands.

But what about this: in Kentucky, it is illegal to carry an ice cream in your back pocket.

And this? In Oklahoma you can be fined or imprisoned for making " ugly faces " at dogs.

Can you believe that? Well, in 1647 the English banned Christmas...







O sistema legal americano


Em Massachusetts , roncar è ilegal a menos que todas as janelas do quarto estejam fechadas e travadas. Loucura? Antes de dormir você tambem deve tomar banho. Isso è lei!

Bem, in Michigan, è ilegal colocar um gambà na mesa de escritòrio de seu patrão.

E em Hartford, Connecticut, você não pode atravessar a rua " plantando bananeira"

Mas que tal essa : Em Kentucky, è ilegal carregar sorvete no bolso de tràs.

E esta? Em Oklahoma você pode ser multado ou preso por fazer "careta "para os cachorros.

Dà pra acreditar numa coisa dessa? Bem, em 1647 o Inglês proibiu o Natal.

It's time to go ahead - Wednesday's reviews classes


Dear students , I 'm really much obliged to our bishop for this wonderful opportunity to get a second day to study English at church. We are lucky to get our friend and brother Israel that decided to offer his helping hand in order to help us with this project. If you are here tonight that"s because you really desire to learn English and I really thank you for this decision. As you should know I live so far away from here and it's almost impossible to be here every wednesday...but I'm sure that Israel gets the Skills and knowledge to help you to understand the grammar. Finally I'd like you to know that I really believe you are able to learn English and we are gonna do our best to show that this is a possible dream. So, as you are in good hands I hope you enjoy your time...and see you tomorrow!

Queridos alunos e alunas, realmente sou muito grato ao nosso bispo por essa maravilhosa oportunidade de termos um segundo dia para estudarmos inglês na igreja.Somos afortunados de termos nosso amigo e irmão Israel que decidiu oferecer seu tempo a fim de nos apoiar nesse projeto.Se você esta aqui esta noite è porque você realmente deseja aprender inglês e eu realmente lhes agradeço por essa decisão. Como vocês devem ter conhecimento , moro muito longe daqui e è quase impossivel estar aqui todas as quartas , mas estou convicto que o Israel tem as tècnicas e conhecimento necessario para ajuda los a entender a gramatica.Finalmente , gostaria que vocês soubessem que realmente acredito que vocês são capazes de aprender Inglês e faremos o nosso melhor para mostrar que esse è um sonho possivel.Então como voces estão em muito boas mãos...eu espero que vocês se divirtam...e atè amanha!
